Benefits of Affiliate Marketing for Business

Affiliate marketing is a great way of generating profit. It is a simple marketing tool which involves a merchant and a website owner or affiliate. Both the parties mutually agree to join hands for affiliate marketing. The website owner provides a space on his website for placing advertisement of the merchant’s products. When an Internet user clicks on the merchant’s advertisement, he is directed to the merchant’s website, where he can make a purchase. For every purchase of the merchant’s product, the website owner providing affiliate marketing, gets his share of commission thereby, creating a win-win situation for both the parties. There are several benefits of affiliate marketing which makes it an attractive business opportunity.

For Merchants

• Low Marketing Cost
Promoting products via direct marketing can hamper the marketing budget. Billboards, television commercials and newspaper advertisements are very expensive means of marketing products. Affiliate marketing is a comparatively cheap option, in which you need to pay the commission only when a product is actually sold out. Apart from that, you also have the liberty to reach to a consensus with the website owner on the commission to be paid per product sale. Thus, you will have to pay a fixed cost to the affiliate, plus the network fees which is variable for different affiliates.

• Free Brand Exposure
Advertisements placed on affiliate websites are free of charge without becoming a burden on the merchant’s pocket. This free brand exposure is one of the nicest benefits of affiliate marketing for creating brand visibility.

• Visibility via Search Engines
Many affiliates or websites have a separate team for search engine optimization. This helps them to rank higher in search results, which ultimately increases the chances of users clicking on the merchant’s advertisement and buying the product.

• Cost-effective Marketing
Affiliate marketing is cost-effective as payment is done only when a potential buyer becomes a customer. If the buyer fails to become the merchant’s customer, there is no liability on the part of the merchant to pay commission to the affiliate.

• Targeted Customers
As affiliates are interested in generating profits, they carefully choose the ads that are placed on their website. They are aware of their target customer’s interests and know which ads they are likely to click when they visit their website, and make a purchase of the merchant’s products.

• Customer Acquisition
Affiliate marketing does not involve direct sales. It is an indirect form of selling products wherein the customer himself is in search of a particular product or service, and buys it when his requirements are met. Thus, this marketing tool does not involve direct customer acquisition rather, it depends on the buyer’s desire for a particular product.
